What Is Driving the Crypto Market Higher?
One of the main factors behind the rally is renewed institutional demand. According to CoinDesk, US spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded approximately $606 million in net inflows on August 20. This followed inflows of about $517 million on the previous day.
Spot Ethereum ETFs attracted another $221 million during the same period. Two consecutive days of strong inflows indicate renewed interest in digital assets among institutional investors.
Additional factors supporting the market inсlude:
- liquidations of short positions held by traders expecting prices to decline;
- increased purchases of long-term bonds by the US Treasury;
- expectations of clearer cryptocurrency regulation in the United States;
- renewed investor interest in risk assets.
Bitcoin May Record Its First Positive August Since 2021
Bitcoin has gained approximately 15% since the beginning of August. If the current momentum continues, BTC may record its first positive August since 2021.
However, part of the rally was accelerated by the forced closing of short positions. Following such a sharp move, market volatility may remain elevated, and traders should consider the possibility of significant price fluctuations.
